A man identified as Eboh Joshua has lost his life after his friend, Adeyeye Adedolapo, allegedly stabbed him to death in the Baruwa, Ipaja area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the incident occurred at about 6:30 pm on Friday.
A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation revealed that a friend to the deceased, who had spent the night at his apartment the night before, killed him.
“I am the neighbour of the person that they killed. The incident happened at about 6:30pm on Friday. I thought they were friends and I know he came to sleep at his place for that day. When I saw him at first, I did not want to judge him by his looks so I did not say anything.
“I wanted to check up on my neighbour just for me to see that he had been stabbed brutally by someone he allowed to stay in his house. I wonder what would have happened between them because my neighbour was not a bad person at all. It is such a pity that his life has been cut short by somebody who does not even deserve his kindness.
“I reported to the police. I know justice will be served because that man needs to be jailed for doing such a thing.”
Another resident who did not want her name on the print said the body had been evacuated from the scene.
“This is such a sad incident because I saw him on Thursday but now, I cannot talk to him anymore. I hope that man pays for his crime; why would you kill somebody in cold blood? The body has been removed from the house because it is a sad experience.”
When contacted on the telephone, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, stating that the incident had been reported and the Divisional Police Officer of the area and his men have visited the scene.
He added that the corpse had been evacuated to the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba and investigation going on.
He said, “The DPO of the division and his men have visited the scene. The corpse has been evacuated to the Mainland General Mortuary, Yaba and investigation is ongoing.”
