How many for Roma?
This looks like a complete mismatch on paper. Bet9ja agree with odds of 1.15 for Roma to be the winner.
The Giallorossi need a win to have any chance of progressing directly to the last 16. They have a strong record with 21 wins in their last 28 European home ties.
Sheriff have lost four of their five group games and have no chance of any form of European competition in the New Year. Only Hacken have conceded more than their 14 goals.
The odds already indicate this, but if we add the away team to score with a Roma win, we get more appealing odds of 3.01. The Italian defence has been a little leaky of late, conceding in each of their last four games. Meanwhile, the Moldovans have scored in four of their five group games, with both teams netting in nine of their last 10 European fixtures.

Early goals the way forward
With such a hot favourite, it is no surprise to see all the goals markets with very short odds. The possible exception seems to be in the first-half goals, and it appears to be the best option to add to our tips. Bet9ja have the line set at 3.5, so we expect at least four goals over the 90 minutes.
Roma are likely to aim for an early start, and we can get odds of 2.11 for over 1.5 goals in the first half. There have been 12 goals scored in the opening period of these two sides’ nine group games at an average of 1.3 per game.
This is not too short of what we are looking for. In a similar match, Sheriff faced off against the group leaders, Slavia Prague, and there were three goals in the first half.

Rom will Luk to get the ball rolling
Romelu Lukaku scored and was sent off on Sunday night during Roma’s 1-1 draw at home to Fiorentina. With his domestic suspension looming, the Belgian striker can dedicate his full attention to this game. This will potentially increase his already impressive stats for the season.
The 30-year-old initiated the weekend’s scoring with a header inside the first five minutes. That was his 7th Serie A goal of the season from just 13 appearances, while he has four goals from five outings in this competition. This includes a strike in the last head-to-head meeting in September. Odds of 1.50 for him to score at any moment are incredibly short, so we are taking him to be the first goalscorer in our tips.

Home side rarely backed into a corner
It is incredible to see Roma’s very low corner count in this competition this season. For a side that have dominated most fixtures, you would expect them to have plenty of action in the final third and plenty of corners.
José Mourinho’s side have won just nine corners across their opening five group games at an average of 1.80 per game. Surprisingly, they didn’t force any in both games against Slavia Prague. Their highest count was four against Servette, and they managed only two in the reverse fixture in Moldova.
This might be an unexpected end to my predictions, but I am taking Roma under 6.5 corners.
