During the visit on Tuesday, the CIoD members sought the support of the monarch for its zonal headquarters that would be built in Abeokuta.
They were led to the palace by the President and Chairman of Council, Alhaji Tijani Borodo.
Borodo appealed to the monarch to help the institute remind the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, to fulfil the promise he made that he would construct a zonal headquarters for the institute in Abeokuta.
He said, “Your Majesty, the institute established the Abeokuta branch in 2016. The choice of Abeokuta as the seat of the zonal headquarters of the institute in the South West was very deliberate.
”It was not unconnected with the rising profile of Ogun state as a commercial and business hub, which factories and organisations opening shop in different parts of the state.
”The institute felt the need to move closer to the directors of these organisations in order to provide them with support they need to successfully lead their organisations.
” Unfortunately, I must confess that since its inception in 2016, the Abeokuta branch of the institute has struggled and is yet to find a firm footing.”
Borodo promised to revamp the institute’s Abeokuta branch.
In his response, the monarch assured his guests that their request for a befiting zonal headquarters in Abeokuta would come to reality.
