Audi stated this at the NSCDC Commandant General’s quarterly summit on Thursday at the Corps headquarters in Abuja.
He said despite that the high number of illegal refineries that had been destroyed by operatives of the Corps, it was worrisome to still notice the establishment of more illegal refineries.
Audi lamented, “The emergence of these refineries is worrisome but the corps is on top of the situation as we have been arresting suspects and destroying these adulterated crude oil refineries.”
He further said that as part of the Corps’ efforts to tackle pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft, four suspects conveying 3,850 liters of adulterated automotive gas oil were arrested in Imo state.
“The suspects ranging from 28 to 35 years old were intercepted by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad at Obah Agwa Autonomous Community of the state,” he noted.
The CG said that the Corps had also averted multiple attack attempts on schools in the country.
Audi said that he expected sustained funding of the Safe School Initiative in the 2024 budget, adding that the initiative has a work plan spread for about three years.
