Mohammed Idris Malagi, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, has refuted claims that the Federal Government was involved in the political unrest in Regions State.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, Malagi made it clear that the All Progressives Congress government is not at fault for the situation due to the involvement of those connected to President Bola Tinubu.
“The occurrence of the crisis in Rivers does not automatically implicate the Federal Government as the orchestrator,” he asserted.
“I’ve not found evidence to suggest that the Federal Government is engineering the crisis,” the minister emphasized, highlighting the lack of hard evidence connecting the federal government to the crisis.
Malagi admitted that the presence of people connected to the central government—specifically, members of President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet—makes conjecture easier to start.
He brought up analogous political circumstances in states such as Ondo, pointing out cases in which the President had stepped in to mediate disputes within the same political party.
The minister reiterated that the goal is still to maintain calm and promote resolution rather than to incite discontent and emphasized the government’s commitment to tackling political difficulties in various states.
