Mrs Wosilat Okoya-Seriki, wife of the late former Minister of State for Defence and Ambassador to Spain, Chief Ademola Seriki, and his children on Friday held a special remembrance prayer in memory of the late politician and Commander of the Niger.
The one-year remembrance prayer which was held at the Island Club’s Peacock Hall, Onikan, Lagos, was led by the Imams of Lagos Central Mosque.
In attendance were associates of the late ambassador, former Senator Lagos West, Gbenga Asafa, Mutiu Aare, Tunde Salau, Wosilat Okoya-Seriki, Shade Okoya, representatives of the Oba of Lagos as well as the deceased family members including his children, Abisola Dejonwo, Faridah Demola-Seriki and Alimah Araoye.
The Guest Lecturer and Associate Professor, Lagos State University, Dr Saheed Timehin, admonished people on good deeds, saying it is the only thing that will be with everyone after death.
He said, “It was because of good and fulfilled life that Ambassador Ademola Rasaq Seriki lived that all of us are gathered here today to pray for him. May Allah continue to repose his soul in Al-Jannah Al-Firdaus.”
In her address, the deceased widow, Mrs Okoya-Seriki described life without her husband in the last 365 days as uneasy.
In their goodwill messages, friends and political associates of the decease described him as a good and selfless man.
A former associate, Aare, described him as a good man who encouraged all his friends on good deeds.
Also, Senator Asefa, said, “Seriki was somebody that when you met him once, you would fall in love with him to continue to see him again and again. He was a good family man. He loved his children and did not joke about their matters.”
Seriki died in Madrid, Spain, while in active service on December 15, 2022 at the age of 63.
