Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on information and Strategy has said with the resources at the disposal of state Governors, they have no business to fail their people.
He said this via his Twitter (X) page.
According to him, “the 36 states have enjoyed overwhelming support from President Tinubu’s administration, having recently been given N7 billion each for infrastructure support, in addition to the N2 billion earlier given as fuel subsidy palliative”.
He noted that the revenue allocations available to all the tiers of government have also been on the increase since June.
Onanuga was of the view that the media should monitor the states to ensure that the funds they received were wisely spent.
In a post on his X handle on Thursday, Onanuga urged governors to spend money on roads and other infrastructure, saying it will create jobs.
“State governors thus have no reason not to do a lot for their people, instead of the obsession with the centre. In spending money on roads and other infrastructure, many jobs will be created and people will have money to spend.
“Let the states therefore get cracking to give succour to our people. Let the mass media also monitor the states to ensure that the funds are wisely spent,” he said.
