The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the FirstBank Group have joined notable Nigerians and organisations to express condolences to the founder of The Address Homes, Dr Bisi Onasanya, on the demise of his mother, Mrs Selimot Onasanya (Nee Folorunsho), who passed away on November 16, 2023.
Onasanya, a former Group Managing Director of First Bank, is also a real estate investor.
A statement on Thursday quoted Sanwo-Olu to have, in a letter to Onasanya, conveyed his sympathy and acknowledged the impact of the loss on him and the entire Onasanya family.
“Mama was indeed a matriarch whose life was a testament to the enduring values of hard work, honesty, and love for family.
“ At 88, she had lived a fulfilling life, leaving an indelible mark not just on her family but on the people whose lives she touched. Her nurturing resilience and dedication to family and community are traits that we will always cherish when we remember her.
“I understand that no amount of words can take away the pain you feel at this time, but please take solace in the fact that she lived a worthy and impactful life. Her legacy lives on in you, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her values, teaching, and love will continue to guide and inspire generations of your family,” Sanwo-Olu said.
Similarly, First Bank, through its CEO, Dr Adesola Adeduntan, also extended condolences to Onasanya and family in a letter titled ‘We mourn with you.’
The letter recognised the late Mrs Onasanya’s remarkable life, underscoring her lasting legacy of kindness, discipline, and uprightness.
The letter read, “On behalf of the Board and staff of First Bank, I extend my deepest condolences to you and your family on the passing of your beloved mother, the late Mrs Selimot Olaleye Elizabeth Onasanya (Nee Folorunsho), who lived to the ripe age of 88 years.
The passing of such a wonderful woman must be a huge loss, not only to you but to the entire Onasanya family. However, I urge you to find solace in the fact that Mama lived a long, noteworthy, and fulfilled life. Her outstanding qualities and lasting legacy of kindness, discipline, exemplary family values, godliness, and uprightness will be fondly remembered by many.
“At FirstBank, we share in your grief and extend our heartfelt sympathy to you, your entire family, friends, and well-wishers on this painful and irreparable loss.
