This is as the new leadership in the state has resolved to partner with the state government and relevant security agencies to fight petroleum-related crimes and create an enabling environment for legitimate businesses to thrive
Speaking while inaugurating the state leadership of NOGASA in the state led by Dr Sam Osung, the organisation’s National President, Mr Benneth Korie, expressed satisfaction that the inauguration would add value to the supply and distribution chain of the products in Akwa Ibom State
He said, “This long-awaited inauguration will bring positive waves to the oil and gas suppliers and distribution sector in Akwa Ibom State. I charge you to create an enabling environment for the distribution and marketing of the products.
“Petroleum products remain the livelihood of the Nigerian economy and we the marketers have a responsibility to protect that, without compromising quality service to the people of this great country.
“NOGASA remains resolute and committed to ensuring smooth operations of the oil and gas in our nation. We are here to help customers get the best value for their money and our work is to assist and enhance relationships between our member’s suppliers and end users of our products.”
Also speaking while inaugurating the State Council of Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria, led by Mr Udeme Eset, the National President, Dr Billy Harry, underscored the importance of the joint inauguration, describing it as unique in the annals of the history of the two organisations.
He said it’s only when the two organisations work together and act together that they would be able to overcome the challenges in the sector and ensure that Nigeria returns to the time when petroleum products are sold at a price that a common man can afford.
“What we are doing today is unique, it’s epic and it’s the first in the annals of the history of the downstream sector. We are going to make it unique throughout the country because together we can make sure that the importation of petroleum products is reduced to the barest minimum.
“Together we can make sure that our refineries are working again, together we can get back to the time when petroleum products are sold at what the common man can afford. They say in Nigeria, anything that goes up will not come down again, but I can tell you with the synergy that is coming from retail outlet owners and the suppliers association of Nigeria, this is going to be something that is going to change the landscape of the economy and the economic activities of the downstream. So, take this meeting as history,” he said
Speaking while fielding questions from newsmen after the inauguration, the State Chairman of NOGASA, Dr Sam Osung, pledged the resolve of the new leadership to create an enabling environment for legitimate businesses to thrive
He said, “It’s my pleasure to that today I am being considered the chairman of NOGASA in Akwa Ibom State which is the fastest growing stakeholders agency. I’m going to do this job with passion, determination and commitment. We will partner with the State government, the regulatory agencies representing the federal government, the service chiefs and all security agencies available to mitigate irregularities within the downstream supply and distribution chain.”
