The plan was disclosed by the O’RAAMP Project Coordinator, Mr. Rasaq Okediya while featuring on a radio programme ‘Imole Ayo’ monitored in Osogbo on Saturday.
Okediya, who noted Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to the development of rural areas in the state, said the governor had released a counterpart fund that enabled the agency to settle its debts and run operations.
Explaining further activities of O’RAAMP, Okediya said the excellent performance of the agency under Rural Access Mobility Project -2, made Osun and 18 other states be selected among the participating states in the next phase of the project.
He said, “O’RAAMP will, among other things, upgrade some kilometres of rural roads, while spot improvement would be done on rural roads, with routine maintenance and regular rehabilitations.
“The newly added component – Agricultural Marketing – would focus on the construction of Agro-Logistic Centres in the three Senatorial Districts using the multi-dimensional indicators as laid down by donor partners.”
While appreciating the support of the state government for the enabling environment for the agency to operate, Okediya appealed to host communities where the Agro logistics hubs would be constructed to cooperate with O’RAAMP staff when work commences on the projects.
