The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Olabode Agoro, on Tuesday, called on civil servants in the state to be diligent, honest, and more dedicated to their service in the state’s public service.
Agoro stressed that every act of diligence would be duly rewarded as none would go unnoticed by the state government.
The Head of Service gave the charge at the pull-out ceremony organised by the Lagos State Public Service Office in honour of the immediate-past Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
Muri-Okunola, who became the state’s Head of Service in 2018 under the administration of former governor Akinwunmi Ambode, resigned from the public service in September 2023 following his appointment as the Principal Private Secretary to President Bola Tinubu.
“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, what we are witnessing today is a testimony to the reward for diligence, commitment, perseverance and honesty to the state Public Service. Let us learn to be more dedicated, honest and diligent in whatever assignment we are given because it has a reward,” Agoro said.
He noted that the state government “acknowledge your (Muri-Okunola’s) sense of commitment, diligence, honesty, efficiency, and performance over the years, which have continued to make Lagos State a reference point for all other states in the country in terms of effective public service delivery,” advising public servants to emulate these virtues.
In his remarks, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu appreciated the ex-HoS for the role he played at the inception of his administration as governor in 2019.
“Muri-Okunola practically held me by the hands and helped us to stabilise our new government when we had no one else,” the governor said.
