Onifade made this declaration on Thursday at a press briefing held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital while launching a mobile advert app.
The General Manager, who said original stickers on branded vehicles from states with corresponding rates might be exempted, warned that those using stickers designed to defraud the state will face strict enforcement.
He said, “Where a branded vehicle has the sticker of a state that has corresponding rates with that of Ogun State, we might waive it. However, if you have a sticker that is designed to defraud the state, we won’t allow it.
“For instance, if you’re coming from Lagos with a LASSA sticker, it is understandable since they allow vehicles from Ogun State to Lagos. But if you are coming from Lagos with an Ekiti sticker, it may not be permitted.
“What we are saying is that we will not allow stickers (on branded vehicles) from other states that are meant to defraud Ogun State. For example, if your vehicle is registered in Ogun State but you produce a Kogi State sticker without justification, it amounts to deliberate fraud, evading taxes or fees.
“In such cases, we reserve the right to ban the vehicle and insist on proper compliance with state regulations.”
Onifade announced that the agency has started its 2024 advertising year with the launch of a mobile advert app, saying the agency plans to transition to an electronic format to stop fraud.
The move, he added, was aimed at streamlining the process and reducing instances of counterfeit stickers.
Speaking on the challenges faced in the last business year, Onifade said 2022 enforcement efforts saw a relaxation in dealing with politically branded vehicles to avoid tensions during the election year.
Meanwhile, one of the consultants of OGSAA, Ayo Osipitan, emphasised that the reason the agency was going digital was to curb counterfeiting.
Osipitan said previous experiences were unpleasant due to counterfeiting of the agency’s documents.
He, therefore, urged owners of vehicles that are branded in Ogun or passing through the state to patronise OGSAA.
“The agency is set to ensure that 2024 is well packaged for the government and the branded vehicle owners in the state,” he said.
He appealed to individuals using branded vehicles without OGSAA approval to do the needful to avoid sanctions
