According to a UK publication, Football League World, English Premier League side, Aston Villa, are interested in signing in-form Nigeria international, Kelechi Iheanacho, during the January transfer window.
The Super Eagles forward has just six months on his current contract and will be free to discuss terms with other clubs from January.
Following the Foxes’ relegation from the Premier League to the championship, a host of clubs like West Ham, Fulham, Brentford and Wolves all showed interest in the Nigerian but he remained at the King Power Stadium.
Since then, the striker has made 20 appearances in all competitions for the Foxes this season under new manager Enzo Maresca, scoring six goals and providing two assists.
With the winter transfer set to open in a few weeks, Aston Villa, who have been in a rich vein of form in the first half of the season, are keen on strengthening their squad and have identified the Eagles striker as an ideal partner for Ollie Watkins, who has been impressive so far this season.
“Aston Villa are interested in signing Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho in the January transfer window,” the website wrote.
“The Midlands club are keen to provide some depth behind Ollie Watkins in the centre-forward role, as they compete on multiple fronts in 2024.
“As things stand, Iheanacho’s contract with Leicester is due to expire at the end of this season.
“That of course, means that the January transfer window could be the Foxes’ last chance to receive a fee for the striker, amid that interest from Aston Villa.”
A move to Villa would interest Iheanacho, as they’re currently in the English topflight and are in a pole position to finish within European spots this season.
