Emzor Pharmaceutical Industries Limited will today (Monday) host six-time female African Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, for a homecoming reception.
A statement on Sunday said the Super Falcon striker, who was recently crowned 2023 CAF Women’s Player of the Year, “will be hosted to a befitting celebratory reception in her honour at the Mini-Stadium, Abalti Barracks, Ojuelegba, Lagos.”
The 29-year-old football sensation was announced the winner of the gong at the gala held in Marrakesh, Morocco, recently.
The triumph was Oshoala’s sixth time winning the award, making her the footballer with the most wins, having previously won the feat in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022.
Oshoala, who has been a brand ambassador for Emzor in the last six years, just recently renewed her contract with another three-year contract with the pharmaceutical company.
“I just want to say a big thank you to the CEO of Emzor, Dr Stella Chinyelu Okoli; it’s been a great journey for me. She took me as a daughter, cared for me and my foundation, and ever since meeting her she has sponsored my foundation and up till now cared for the girl-child in Lagos Nigeria, and sponsored all my projects. I appreciate everything and also the homecoming CAF award ceremony, she sponsored everything for me to be celebrated,” Oshoala was quoted to have said.
The event, which will be held on Monday at Abati Barracks Ojuelegba, will also feature the Asisat Oshoala Football4Girls tournament where over 16 football girls’ academies in Lagos State will battle for prize money and get a scholarship to Spain to study and play football, the statement noted.
