The governor stated this while condoling with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress, and the Ondo State Government over Akeredolu’s death.
This is contained in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Ahmed Idris, and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
Idris described the death of Akeredolu, whom he described as an iconic politician as a great loss not only to his immediate family and Ondo people but also a significant loss to the entire APC family and Nigeria at large.
Akeredolu, until his death at the age of 67, in the early hours of Wednesday after a protracted illness, was the governor of Ondo State.
Governor Idris recalled that the late politician had left a vacuum that would be difficult to fill given his indelible mark not only in the political space of Nigeria but also his gigantic achievements in the legal profession.
“On behalf of myself, the Kebbi State Government, and the good people of Kebbi State, I wish to render our condolences to Mr President, APC family, Ondo State Government, and the immediate family over the death of a distinguished politician,” he said.
The governor encouraged the family and people of Ondo State to take heart and accept the will of God Almighty in good faith.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State Government on Wednesday confirmed the death of the state governor.
The PUNCH earlier reported that the confirmation of the governor’s death came several hours after news of his death went viral.
This was according to a statement issued by the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, the governor died in Germany on Wednesday after battling prostate cancer.
