The annual competition for members of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan was bankrolled by Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, in line with the monarch’s commitment to the development of the sport and encouraging participants to keep fit.
The week-long event had over 30 male and female players pulled into teams, competing for honours at the revered tournament, with the grand finale held at the Lord Rumes Centre Court.
The well-attended event also had politicians, government functionaries, business moguls, community leaders and members of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club present at the final.
With the tournament attaining a landmark next year, the monarch promised to elevate the standard at the 10th edition to an international affair with more foreign players competing in 2024.
At the closing ceremony, the champions and losing finalists were presented with trophies while all players received medals for participation in this year’s competition.
