Olubunmi Babajide, younger brother of Super Falcons forward Rinsola Babajide, came into reckoning on Monday after scoring four goals for his regional league side Carshalton Athletic in their 4-1 win over Kingstonian, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Babajide had a New Year’s Day to remember as he scored all four goals in front of a crowd of 602 at Colston Avenue. He completed his hat-trick before halftime and put the icing on the cake in the 79th minute.
The 20-year-old’s heroics would, however, have gone unnoticed until the UDG Tenerife forward quoted Carshalton Athletic’s post hailing the player.
Babajide wrote on X, “Four goals from lil bro? Easy Bunmi,” after the club posted, “Can any Robins’ fans recall the last CAFC player to score four goals in a game? Well, add Bunmi Babajide to the list in the 4-1 win against Kingstonian.”
Like his sister, the 20-year-old is also eligible to play for Nigeria as they are born to Nigerian parents. Babajide made her Falcons debut on October 25, 2023, starting in a 1-1 draw with Ethiopia during the 2024 Olympic qualifiers.
Babajide, who joined Carshalton Athletic in June 2023, started his career with Queens Park Rangers U18s in 2020. He has previously played for some regional league sides, including Corinthian-CAS, Waltham Abbey and Egham Town.
