In the past few weeks, different artistes have paid tributes to the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad, who died in controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023.
A popular singer, Ahmed Ololade, aka Asake, got fans emotional during his performance at the FlyTime Fest on December 25, 2023, when he paid a tribute to the late Mohbad. During the tribute, a graphic compilation of some pictures and videos of the late artistes were displayed on a screen.
In the same vein, Akinbiyi Ahmed, aka Bella Shmurda, who was a close friend to the late Mohbad paid him a tribute during his show on December 27, 2023, which was held at the Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. However, that was not the first time the artiste had paid such an emotional tribute to his late friend. He was in tears when he paid tribute to Mohbad during a performance in September 2023.
He also released a special tribute song for Mohbad titled, My Brother. Recently, a trending video of the artiste showed him rejecting a painting of the late Mohbad and his son from a fan. He, however, showed appreciation to the fan and promised to pay for the artwork.
On his part, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba released an album titled, Itunu (Comfort), in tribute to his late son.
The tribute album generated mix reactions, as some felt it was inappropriate for a father to record a tribute album for his son; while some felt that the elderly Aloba should be left to grieve however he wanted to.
Meanwhile, fans and other Nigerians are still anticipating the outcome of the investigation into the circumstances of Mohbad’s death.
Giving updates about the investigation, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in an interview with our correspondent on Thursday, claimed that the command had not received the report of the autopsy conducted on Mohbad from the pathologists.
