A Cross River-born singer and songwriter, Winifred Osang, aka Winnaj, has described her brand of music as one that connects with souls.
She told Sunday Scoop, “What stands me out is being myself. I am big on creating intentional music; having dropped out of the Federal University Wukari, Taraba State, after three years of studying Chemistry, in order to pursue a career in music.
“I have always been very keen on creating true music that connects with souls. I believe what makes me stand out is the magic of being true to my music, and the emotions it can ignite in people. My focus is on spreading love, peace and positivity.”
She added that though starting off in the industry could be tough, she had enjoyed a favourable reception since she formally started her career in June 2023.
The 25-year-old singer also added that she would love to collaborate with Burna Boy, Wizkid, Bnxn, Davido and other amazing artistes, ‘as long as there is a connection’.
The singer also stated that she often oscillated between different genres in her songs. According to her, her debut single titled, Manifest, can be described as afro-fusion, owing to its combination of trap and afrobeat; while Shuga, another of her songs is pure afrobeat; and Let’s Party is afro-fusion, with an element of amapiano.
She also stated that she will be releasing her debut Extended Play album later in the year.
