The Olowode of Egba, Oba Kolawole Sowemimo, has many reasons to celebrate. In the course of the week, he marked his 13th coronation anniversary, and his queen, Toyin’s 60th birthday.
The monarch went all out to celebrate his wife as she attained the milestone age; an event which was attended by several personalities from different walks of life.
One of the highlights of the event was when the birthday girl and her husband danced twice in two different outfits.
A popular fuji musician, K1 de Ultimate; and a gospel singer, Laolu Gbenjo, serenaded the guests with good music.
A day before the birthday celebration, the monarch conferred chieftaincy titles on 10 people, including Abiodun Badejo and his wife, Moronke, who became the Agba Akin of Owode and Yeye Oba respectively; Toyin Davies as Yeye Otunba Mayegun Owode Egba, and her husband, Moshood, as Otunba Mayegun Owode Egba; while Abiba Odunbaku was made the Erelu of Owode Egba.
While speaking at the installation ceremony, Oba Sowemimo said, “I am happy that I am here with them today, and they are happy to work together to make the land better. I count them all worthy to be my chiefs.”
Some of the guests present at the event were a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Abiodun Tobun; CEO of Turaki Garden City Estate, Moshood Abiodun; Olu of Orile Kenta, Oba Adetokunbo Tejusho; Olu of Joga Orile, Oba Adeyemi Adekeye, and his wife, Olanike; Olu of Itori, Oba Fatai Akamo; a businesswoman, Bose Osinnowo; Otun Bobagunwa of Egbaland, Kehinde Alli and his wife, Lola, who is the Erelu Otun Bobagunwa of Egbaland.
