The Provost, Federal College of Education (Technical) Omoku, Rivers State, Dr Emmanuel Ikenyiri, has pledged rewards for hard-working staff members of the college.
He also reassured the college workers and students of a conducive working and learning environment.
According to a statement by the College Public Relations Officer, Prince Charles Amadike-Otoboh, on Tuesday, the provost gave the assurance on Monday in his New Year message while welcoming members of the college community to school after the Yuletide break.
The provost described 2024 as a year of hope and abundant blessings and requested both the academic and non-teaching staff to put in their best as stipulated by the civil service rules and regulations and to move the college.
“He reiterated his optimism for a promising year and urged all Nigerians to pray for continued peace and unity in the country. The provost directed the deans, directors and heads of departments and units to report to the management, the names of erring staff in their offices for disciplinary action as lateness and absenteeism to work, insubordination, divulgement of official secrets amongst other offenses will not be tolerated this year while hard-working staff members will be rewarded,” the statement partly read.
It added that the provost commended President Bola Tinubu for the removal of tertiary institutions from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, which he described as a step in the right direction.
