Jim Swartz has been named the new Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria Limited.
This was said in a statement that the company’s general manager of policy, government, and public affairs, Esimaje Brikinn, provided to The PUNCH on Wednesday.
With effect from April 1, 2024, Swartz was named “as the Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria/Mid-Africa Business Unit,” according the release.
Swartz was the Vice President of Capital Projects, headquartered in Houston, Texas, prior to his appointment.
“He brings a wealth of experience in the upstream business and a proven ability to build effective partnerships with stakeholders,” the statement said.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Swartz went on to get a Master of Science in the same field from the University of Oklahoma.
Supposedly, he began his career with Chevron in 1990 as a geologist in Louisiana. Since then, he has held more responsible jobs in both the United States and Angola.
Richard Kennedy, “who has elected to retire after almost 40 years of service to the company,” is replaced by Swartz.
