The Global President of Obafemi Awolowo University Alumni Association Worldwide, Barr. Fred Aburu, has charged Nigerians to cultivate the habit of hard work, transparency and dedication as these represent the road map to success in human endeavor.
Aburu also urged the citizenry to render quality service and portray impeachable character for higher productivity to the nation.
He made these known at the 4th quarterly meeting of the Global Executive Council of OAU Alumni Association, held in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
He stress that for any meaningful development to take place in the country, the citizens must possess all the aforementioned attributes.
He averred that the training they received in Obafemi Awolowo University was aimed at excellence, expressing the excitement that products of the institution all over the world are measuring up to expectations.
Insisting that to whom much is given, much is expected Aburu said, “We are a people of excellence, a thoroughbred and we will always display these at all times.
“You have tremendous potentials, a lot have been deposited in you and the end product should be perfect and excellent performance.”
The Global President submitted that there are two universities in Africa, Obafemi Awolowo University, and others, as exemplified by the level of teaching and learning made available by the institution.
He further revealed that the citadel of learning represents the best in Africa and expressed the delight that this is visible in the behavioral patterns of members as they dominate the scene worldwide.
Calling on members of the alumni association to take pride in giving back to society through sacrifice, aimed at uplifting their alma mater, he said, “We are not proud, but we must say it loud and clear, we have two universities in Africa, Obafemi Awolowo University and others.
“This association is a global one, we are here to give back to our alma matter in love and promote the association, we have to move the university forward, work for the unity and progress of the institution.”
The chairman of Owerri branch of the OAU Alumni Association, Chief Charles Okeke, encouraged his colleagues to continue to work collectively for the association.
Okeke stressed that their watch word is to act swiftly and work together tenaciously, commending all members for their commitment in projecting the association.
