In a pivotal legal development, Eze Frederick Nwajiagu, the Ndigbo leader of Ajao Estate, continued on January 11, 2024, before Justice Adesanya Yetunde at the Igbosere High Court, following his arrest in July 2023.
The lead counsel for Mr. Nwajiagu, Chief Emefo Etudo, has expressed unwavering confidence in his client’s acquittal, setting the stage for what promises to be a closely watched legal battle. The courtroom drama unfolds as both legal teams present their arguments, creating an atmosphere of anticipation surrounding the proceedings. This high-profile case is poised to captivate attention as it progresses through the judicial system.
Chief Emefo Etudo, during a brief interview, assured the media that the totality of evidence so far had not revealed anything incriminating against Eze Frederick Nwajiagu, as testified by the police’s PW2. The lead counsel further mentioned that, given the absence of incriminating evidence, they would apply for bail during the ongoing investigation.
Despite acknowledging what he described as an attempt to undermine his client, Chief Emefo Etudo refrained from making direct accusations, citing ongoing court proceedings. He emphasised leaving judgement to the court’s discretion.
When asked about his perception of the court proceedings, Chief Emefo Etudo commended Justice Adesanya Yetunde, describing her as excellent at managing the case.
Eze Frederick Nwajiagu, arrested on April 1, 2023, due to a video deemed a threat to the Lagos state government, faced the court with the case adjourned to Monday, January 29, 2023. The defence counsel also questioned the witnesses, including Raulat, a civil servant.
As the legal proceedings unfold, Eze Frederick Nwajiagu’s defence remains optimistic, emphasising the absence of incriminating evidence and expressing confidence in their pursuit of justice.
The case was adjourned to January 29, 2024.
