The Lagos State chapter of the Association of Juju Musicians of Nigeria has maintained that contrary to what some people think, the genre of music was still very relevant. This was even as it unveiled its plans for 2024.
In a statement sent to Saturday Beats, the association noted that its priority for the year was to organise workshops for members, cater to aged members and provide a website that would contain all members’ names.
Sewanu Hunpe, one of the newly elected executives of the association, said, “The brand of music remains relevant and the most viable, as other musical genres borrow its traditional instruments, lyrics and other features. We are doing very well, and our members are getting big shows at home and in the Diaspora.”
Another member of the executive, Oluwasegun Julius, aka Segzy da Water, appreciated the National President of the association, Queen Ayo Balogun, and notable juju musicians, such as Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey and Shina Peters, among others, for their contributions to the progress of the association.
The vice chairman of the association, Olushola Taiwo, aka Shola Vibrator, reiterated her determination to work for the progress of AJUMN, especially in the area of coordinating the active participation of female artistes to make things work better for the association.
