The Nigerian Society of Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Professionals (ISSUP Nigeria Chapter) presents the 20th session of its bi-monthly webinar series, focusing on the crucial topic of ‘Brief Intervention for Substance Abuse: ASSIST Model.’
Scheduled for January 25, 2024, at 3:00 PM WAT or 2:00 PM UK, this insightful webinar aims to explore the ASSIST Model, providing a comprehensive understanding of brief interventions in addressing substance abuse.
The speaker is Dr. Chinyere C. Okonkwo, a licenced clinical psychologist with a PhD in clinical psychology specialising in substance abuse education, prevention, and treatment.
The moderators of the webinar are Dr. Martin O. Agwogie, National President of the ISSUP Nigeria Chapter, and Ejikeme M. Ogueji, Head of the Editorial and Webinar Team, ISSUP Nigeria Chapter.
Attendees will have the opportunity to understand the rationale for brief intervention, identify the components of brief intervention, learn practical steps in administering brief intervention, and gain insights into appropriate referral methods.
Dr. Chinyere C. Okonkwo brings a wealth of experience, including her Fulbright scholarship and training in substance abuse management. She presently serves as the Assistant Director of Clinical Psychological Services at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Yaba, Lagos State, Nigeria.
