The Benin Electricity Distribution Company has said the power problem being experienced by its customers is beyond its control.
The BEDC told its customers in Delta, Edo, Ekiti, and Ondo States that the reduction in supply hours was due to limitations in allocation from the national grid.
The Eko Electricity Distribution Company had blamed the situation on gas shortage and other issues.
In its X handle on Thursday, the Benin DisCo spoke to its customers, informing them of the reasons for the low power supply
“We wish to inform you that the reduction in supply hours currently being experienced in our franchise states (Delta, Edo, Ekiti, and Ondo States) is due to constraints beyond our control, specifically limitations in allocation from the national grid.
“The inconvenience is regretted and we sincerely apologize for any disruption to your daily routines. Please be assured that we are working diligently with all stakeholders to improve the situation and resume regular supply as soon as possible,” the DisCo said.
Also, the BEDC apologised for the delay in completing the maintenance of Sapele Transmission Substation and Ihovbor Transmission Substation, saying the delay was due to prevailing technical factors.
“However, we want to assure you that work on both substations is progressing well. We anticipate completing the maintenance process and restoring full capacity soon.
“We appreciate our valued customers for their patience and understanding during this time,” it was said.
The PUNCH reports that Nigerians have been complaining of power outages since December 2023, yet the issues have remained without any improvement.
