In the exhilarating second edition of the Road Music Challenge by CFAO Yamaha, participants were tasked with showcasing their creativity through singing, rapping, or dancing, using the phrases ‘Vibes with Yamaha’ and ‘Rev up the sound’ competing for weekly prizes of 100,000 Naira (One Hundred Thousand), 50,000 Naira (Fifty Thousand), and 25,000 Naira (Twenty-Five Thousand), with the ultimate grand prize set at 1,000,000 Naira (One Million). The call for entries opened on November 10th, 2023, and closed on December 29th, 2024, accumulating over 170 entries from diverse dancers, rappers, and singers.
The challenge unfolded in two stages. In the initial phase, contestants submitted their entries as collaborative posts with @roadmusicchallengeng, incorporating the phrases ‘Vibes with Yamaha’ and ‘Rev up the sound’ in their entries and using the hashtags #yamahanigeria and #roadmusicchallenge2.0. Each week, three contestants were selected by members of the jury, with an Insta story poll on @roadmusicchallengeng Instagram determining the weekly winners.
For the second stage, the top 2 entries from the seven weeks advanced to another round, creating new entries with the same soundtrack for Judge Waje to choose the final winner.
The grand prize of 1,000,000 Naira was awarded to Alexander Ikodiya, known as (@thetinyirene) on Instagram, for her exceptional display of talent, creativity, and vocal prowess. During the Instagram livestream video announcing the winner, the esteemed judge and powerful vocalist, Waje, commended her as “effortless, subtle, with an amazing melody, powerful lyrics, and intentional delivery.”
The CFAO Yamaha team expresses gratitude to all contestants for their participation and extends best wishes for success in their future endeavors. As they eagerly anticipate the third edition of the Road Music Challenge, they look forward to uncovering more exceptional creativity and talent.
