A comedian, singer and actor, Koffi Nuel, aka Koffi tha Guru, has said that his career of 25 years as a comedian has been enhanced by God’s grace.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, he said, “It has been 25 years of grace and growth. The comedy industry has evolved in so many ways. There was a time that Night of a Thousand Laughs was the only major stand-up comedy platform for one to become a big name in Nigeria. Today, there are so many comedians with individual platforms and sold-out shows across the country, and even the world.
“Practically every month, a (Nigerian) comedian is shutting down arenas in different places. There are also more sitcoms, and blockbuster comedy movies doing in cinemas, and online platforms. There is also the boom in skit making. Indeed, there has been tremendous growth in the industry.”
Asked about the highpoints of his career, the entertainer said, “There have been several moments that made me feel fulfilled. My gratitude goes to God for the gifts, and the ability to continuously push out great works. I have produced over 30 movies without obtaining any loan. I have also released 32 music albums, written two books, produced several live comedy shows, and projected several protégés, among many other things. Those constitute the outstanding moments of my career.”
