The Director-General, State Contributory Health Care Management Agency, Yusuf Abdulkarim, stated this in a press statement he made available to newsmen in the state while congratulating Governor Ahmed Aliyu over his recent victory at the Supreme Court on Saturday.
Aliyu emphasised a nine-point agenda which included the improvement of the state’s healthcare delivery to the citizens of the state while campaigning for the governor’s office before the 2023 general elections,
He, however, demonstrated this in the presentation of the 2024 annual budget to the state assembly when he made the health sector the second-highest priority with a provision of N31 billion to the sector.
The DG said, “Sokoto State Contributory Health Care Management Agency has assured its commitment towards providing easy access to healthcare services to all residents of Sokoto State in respect of their economic status.”
“Mr. Governor, with his recent affirmation of his victory as the Supreme Court, he is focused on his rededication as part of his nine-point agenda in providing quality health to all,” he added
The DG said the victory of the Governor is the victory of all Sokoto State citizens and with this victory, the citizens will continue enjoying the good work that he has started.
The state government had inaugurated the bi-monthly distribution of free malaria, family planning and HIV/AIDS commodities to 585 health facilities across the state.
The state’s Commissioner for Health, Asabe Balarabe, who inaugurated the distribution, warned the facilities’ staffers to ensure the proper management of the commodities allocated to them.
Also, in June 2023, the governor paid an unscheduled visit to the Sokoto Specialist Hospital to ascertain the quality of services provided by the outfit.
Abubakar Bawa, Press Secretary to the governor, disclosed this in a statement, saying that the governor’s decision to visit the health facility unannounced followed the series of concerns raised by citizens of the state over the poor health service delivery at the hospital.
