President, Nigeria School Sport Federation, Olabisi Joseph, has been returned for a second term in office, The PUNCH reports.
Joseph, who is the first female President of NSSF, was unanimously re-elected by the delegates from 27 states and FCT Abuja at the 2024 Annual General Assembly of the federation held on Tuesday at the Gymnasium Complex of the National Institute of Sports in Lagos.
At the well-attended assembly, the delegates described the first term of Joseph as the full return of NSSF to the international scene, with Nigeria taking part in several International School Sports Federation events in France, Mexico, Morocco among others.
In her acceptance speech, Joseph thanked the delegates for their trust and confidence in her executive, while pledging to work harder to make NSSF a rallying point for talent discovery in sports.
“With your votes, you have all encouraged me. Thank you for having faith in me and returning me to this office. I guarantee you that we will continue from where we are now and hopefully, we will build a federation that we will all be proud of, even after leaving office.
“Your vote demonstrates that you trust me to be your voice and I cannot thank you enough for your trust. I pledge to take us to greater heights and to complete all of my goals. You have shown that you believe in my leadership by returning me for another term in office. I hope I can live up to your expectations and take our federation to a greater height,” she added.
She, however, promised to continue to work harder with the new executive to change the story of school sports in Nigeria.
Other executives elected at the assembly include Dickson Tinism (VP1), Emmanuel Ebong (VP2), Ifeoma Onuchukwu (VP3), Aminu Fada (VP 4), Dr Oba Usman (Secretary-General) and Adagbo Abari (Treasurer).
Others are Fawolu Olajide (Financial Secretary), Aka Ikechukwu (Assistant Secretary), Hassan Dauda (Auditor 1), David Danbuyi (Auditor 2) and Sagiru Dandano (PRO).
