Oyo State has bagged three awards at the recently concluded general meeting of the National Council on Communications and Digital Economy.
The state was awarded the best in human capital development, best in e-government and second runner-up in digital technology infrastructure.
The Senior Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on ICT, Adebayo Akande, who disclosed this in a statement, said it further solidified the state’s reputation as one of the pioneers in the country’s digital landscape.
The 11th NCCDE meeting was hosted in Kano by Governor Abba Yusuf with the Minister of Communications and Innovation, Bosun Tijani, who chaired the meeting, and the Director-General of NITDA Nigeria, Kashifu Inuwa in attendance.
The special adviser said the state’s performance at the meeting had not only reaffirmed its position as a front-runner in the digital landscape but has established a standard for other states to emulate.
He remarked, “I am proud to announce that for three consecutive years, Oyo State has demonstrated its leadership in ICT innovation and implementation, fostering an enabling environment for startups and businesses while contributing to the digital transformation in Nigeria.
“I want to express my gratitude to the Governor of the State, Seyi Makinde for his continuous support, as well as every stakeholder and my team. This achievement is a result of our collective commitment to leveraging technology for the betterment of the people.
