On Monday night in the Ajoni Local Government Area of the state, armed persons killed the two monarchs — Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Ogunsakin, and Onimojo of Omojola-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Olusola.
A third monarch from Ara-Ekiti in Ikole LGA managed to escape when armed men confronted them and tried to forcibly abduct them.
The NADDC chief expressed his condolences to the state government and also expressed his concern over the recent abduction of five pupils and four staff members of the Apostolic Faith Group of Schools, Emure Ekiti.
A group of armed individuals intercepted the school bus carrying 25 students and four staff members in the Emure community of Ekiti State.
The incident took place as the children were being transported home after school hours.
Osanipin implored the people of the state to stand with the government in its endeavours to cleanse the state of criminality and prosecute those responsible for the deeds.
He said, “I am deeply shocked and saddened to hear the heinous killing of the traditional rulers, the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola, and the abduction of innocent pupils and teacher in Emure, in Ekiti State.
“In this sorrowful time, my heartfelt condolence goes to the Government of Ekiti State, particularly to the families of the deceased Kings and the entire people of Ajoni LCDA and Oye Local Government Area.
“Such nefarious acts of brutality cannot and never be accepted in our land. I wish to commiserate with the State Governor, His Excellency, Biodun Oyabanji, and also implore all citizens of our dear state to give unwavering support to Ekiti State Government for swift actions that will bring the perpetrators to justice.”
