As seen in a video on the official X handle of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the fire destroyed a significant portion of one of the buildings, while a portion of the building remained unaffected by the fire.
Confirming the incident to our correspondent in a telephone interview, the Head, Public Education, Lagos State Fire Service, Amodu Shakiru, disclosed that it was an electrical system fire that occurred in an elongated bungalow structure made of wood.
Shakiru added that the Ebute Elefun Fire Station was at the scene to extinguish the fire.
He noted that there were 16 fire incidents for the Lagos State Fire Service to handle as of yesterday.
He stated, “It is a fire involving electrical installation at an extended bungalow building built with wooden materials and belonging to the Ministry of Justice.
“The fire started around 09:57 a.m. and the fire service persons arrived at 10:05 a.m. We had 16 cases of fire emergency to handle yesterday.”
Earlier, PUNCH reported that a plank market located in the Awori bus stop in the Abule Egba area of the state caught fire on Sunday, destroying goods and properties worth millions of naira.
According to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, five minibusses, two pickup vans, and two cars were lost to the fire.
