Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has reacted to the engagement of UK-based Nigerian man Funfere, who was recently called out for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
Recall that Funfere made headlines seven months ago after videos of him seemingly lunging at his ex-girlfriend at an art gallery surfaced on social media.
He was also captured acting erratically outside the gallery while being restrained by a man. However, the reason behind his outburst is not known till date.
In a new development, Funfere took netizens by surprise when he shared news of his engagement to another lady on Sunday, February 4, as he debuted their engagement photos and videos.
His engagement was met with mixed reactions, with some congratulating him and his fiancée while others dug up old tweets and videos of the assault incident.
Some others wondered why his fiancée accepted to marry him despite knowing that he abused his ex, but surprisingly, others revealed that she is a friend of his ex-girlfriend and was even present during the art-gallery attack.
Well, Toke Makinwa has also waded into the conversation as she expressed surprise that his fiancée accepted his proposal despite the viral reports that he was abusive to his ex.
She also thanked his bride-to-be for agreeing to marry him and take him off the street so other women won’t have to deal with his abusive behaviour.
The 39-year-old TV host tweeted,
“Awwwww… A woman publicly accepts to marry an abuser, there’s proof of this beast launching at his ex on video, he has stalked his ex for years and you say YES?? Naaa we gotta all come together to thank you for agreeing to take him so other innocent women don’t have to deal.”
