The Bauchi State Government has disclosed to Arewa PUNCH that it is working in synergy with relevant stakeholders to revive the moribund industries that litter the state in a bid to boost economic activities.
Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State made this known when he received in audience the Director General, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, Mr Charles Odii at the Bauchi State Government lodge in Abuja.
The governor also assured that his government will support the Commissioner of Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Sadiq Hamisu Shira for his tireless efforts aimed at consolidating the existing partnership between the state government and SMEDAN on the targeted programmes that will foster job creation, reduce poverty and address youths restiveness.
Mohammed, who highlighted the importance of SMEDAN, stressed its role in economic growth and development, regional development, flexibility, social impact, and diversification of the economy.
He explained that “their contributions are vital for a thriving and resilient economy, thus making SMEs a key component of sustainable and inclusive economic development.”
The Bauchi Governor while equally extending an invitation to Shira during his visit to the SMEDAN DG explained that it was part of his administration’s consultation with critical partners for the development of SMEs in the state.
Like Odili, similarly, Shira reiterated his unwavering commitment to support the administration of Mohammed, especially in the implementation of its policies and programmes on SMEs for economic growth and development.
