A Nigerian-American showbiz entrepreneur, Monica Swaida, has launched a documentary series titled, Tales of Our Legend, on video streaming platform— Amazon Prime.
According to her, the series tells the stories of African legends, who had made an impact on society but had been forgotten or neglected.
She added that she was inspired to create the series after meeting some of the legends during a movie production and observing their conditions.
She said, “We recorded the first episode in 2020, but we did not have the market. After trying so much, we decided to partner with Amazon Prime.
“The first season is out, while the second season is ready. The mission is to ensure our people get to see the documentary and acquaint themselves with our past legends, both dead and alive, who need to be celebrated.
“I feel someone must document this, and that was why I have decided to shoulder the responsibilities, financially and in other ways.
“It is actually my way of giving back to society. I have been in the entertainment industry since I was 14 years old, and I have worked as a back-up singer for legendary musicians such as Evi Edna Ogoli; and the late Majek Fashek and Sonny Okosun.”
The legends featured in the series include Rachel Oniga, Tee Mac, Bongos Ikwue, Sadiq Daba and Sani Bello.
