Return of the ex to haunt the hosts
Birmingham are the favourite to be the winner of this Championship clash. However, I think there is value in backing the visitors to follow up their win at the weekend with another here.
John Eustace was appointed Rovers manager on Friday and nobody will know the home players better than him. He was sacked at St. Andrews, with the club in 6th place and now returns with them in 19th, just three points ahead of the drop zone. The hosts have one win in their last nine league games and haven’t won any of the last five at home.
Rovers have also dominated their recent meetings. They have won seven of their last nine head-to-heads, including a 4-2 win in November’s reverse fixture. They look good value to win here.
Bet 1: Blackburn to win @ 2.98 with Bet9ja
Hosts to suffer more Blues in front of goal
Much of Birmingham’s problems come from their failure to score. They have lost their last three games in all competitions without scoring a single goal.
Looking at the stats in those games, the Blues had 55 shots. However, due to a lack of confidence, they failed to take any. NG may seem an off addition to my predictions as Blackburn haven’t kept a clean sheet since November. Yet, that is why we are getting such good odds.
Eustace knows his new side have offensive skills. Therefore, his main focus will be to improve their defensive performance, starting with this opportunity.
Bet 2: NG in Goal / No Goal @ 2.61 with Bet9ja
Championship top scorer to find the net again
The leading goalscorer in the Championship will be featured at St. Andrews and is a must addition to my tips. Sammie Szmodics plundered his 17th goal in his 28th second-tier appearance in the 3-1 win over Stoke at the weekend.
The 28-year-old is in the form of his life. He has already beaten his previous best goalscoring season, which he set in 2021 with 15 in League One for Peterborough. He will have fond memories of the reverse fixture, having scored a quickfire second-half brace in the 4-2 for his side.
Bet 3: Sammie Szmodics to score @ 3.00 with bet365
Sondre to keep improving his shooting stats
Rovers secured Sondre Tronstad on a free transfer in the summer after his contract ended with Vitesse. Before signing off for the Dutch outfit, he scored in what turned out to be his final home game.
He seems to have found his shooting boots in recent weeks, with six shots in his last four games. He hit two on target in the weekend win over Stoke and will continue to try his luck as he searches for his first goal for the new club.
Bet 4: Sondre Tronstad Over 0.5 Shots on Target @ 3.25 with bet365
