A singer, Dammy Kush, has said that being able to play the talking drum has had a great impact on her music.
She told Sunday Scoop, “The talking drum is one of my favourite instruments. I also play (regular) drums, but I major in the talking drum because that was what I started with when I was in the children’s choir.
“My ability to play the talking drum has had a great impact on my music because I can use it whenever I want to. All I need to do is follow the tempo and add the talking drum.
“I also play it for some producers, who want the live talking drum effect in their productions.
“During some of my stage performances, I also play the talking drum before performing my songs, which makes the audience to see another side of me as an artiste.”
Kush also stated that starting music early has helped to better position her.
She added, “Being in the church choir at an early age gave my music career a solid foundation. I learnt music from the scratch.
“Many musicians actually started from the church choir, which gave them an edge over their peers. I am even still a member of the youth choir.”
