The Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps, popularly known as KAI, says 15 out of the 17 miscreants apprehended for obstructing pedestrians on the Bolade-Oshodi pedestrian bridge have been sentenced to three months imprisonment without the option of a fine.
LAGESC’s spokesperson, Ajayi Lukman, said on Tuesday that the suspects were arraigned on two counts, bordering on breach of peace and unlawful conversion of government property to use by occupation.
They were, on Monday, arraigned before the Lagos Special Offences Court, Bolade-Oshodi, presided over by a magistrate, S.A Adefioye.
The statement quoted LAGESC Corps Marshal, Maj. Olatunbosun Cole (retd.), as saying: “The conviction of these criminal elements is a right step in the right direction, being that they have caused irreparable havoc to Lagosians in transit by harassing men, and women and dispossessing them of their valuables, which forces them to risk their lives by crossing the highways.”
LAGESC officials on Monday dislodged “miscreants” occupying Oshodi pedestrian bridges in the state.
The state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, gave the update on his X handle.
