The FPRO stated this in a tweet on his X account on Tuesday.
Adejobi noted that the misuse of these items can lead to “pains and sorrow” for citizens and contribute to a weaker security situation.
He also highlighted the need for movie producers and the entertainment industry to seek official approval before using police uniforms in their productions.
He wrote, “We need to repeat it again and again that manufacturing, storage, sales, and usage of police and security agencies’ uniforms, kits, and accoutrements are illegal and punishable under the law. Stop it today.
“Some illegally use them to put us in pain and sorrow. Expose evil-doers for us to have a better security situation in Nigeria.
“Movie producers and those in the entertainment industry need to get approvals from relevant agencies before they can use our uniforms, kits, and accoutrements. They know, and they have been doing that.”
PUNCH Online reported last Thursday that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority Management said the agency will prosecute any skit or filmmaker discovered wearing the agency’s uniform or any associated color, kits, or accessories without the government’s permission.
According to LASTMA’s General Manager, Bakare Oki, the decision was made after witnessing a social media video of two actors wearing phony LASTMA uniforms being revived by evil means after impaling a white Sienna car on the road.
