Rotary Club of Laderin Hiltop, Abeokuta, in partnership with Rotary Club of Milton, Ontario, Canada, has distributed science textbooks and exercise books to over 400 students of St John Anglican Primary School, Kuto and Agunbiade Victory High School, Magbon, Abeokuta.
While the primary pupils got exercise books, and Mathematics and Science textbooks, the secondary school students were given Physics, Chemistry and Biology textbooks and exercise books.
Speaking during the presentation of the study materials to the students, the President of the Rotary Club of Milton, Ontario, Canada, Mrs Adejisola Atiba, said that the intervention was targeted at joining forces with the government to invest in the future of the youths.
Atiba said, “We are investing in the future of young minds, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
“The lasting impact we hope to achieve through this initiative is multifaceted. We aim to inspire a love for learning, encourage critical thinking, and foster innovation among students.
“By promoting education, we are not only enriching individual lives but also building a foundation for a more prosperous and sustainable future for the community at large.”
Speaking during the programme, the President of the Rotary Club of Laderin Hiltop, Abeokuta, Dr Michael Agbaje said the kind gesture was part of the Rotary Club’s global practices of investing in efforts that would impact humanity for good.
Agbaje noted, “We all know the importance of education and the capacity to liberate people from ignorance and poverty. So, no investment in this sector is too much and because there is a whole lot to be done, it won’t be out of place to also use this medium to call on individuals and organizations, which have been endowed, to support the government in the development of the education sector.”
The Headmistress of St John Anglican Primary School II, Kuto, Abeokuta, Mrs Folake Onabajo, lauded the Rotary Clubs for having the school in their thoughts.
She stated that such support for the pupils and students would go a long way to help them achieve their educational dreams.
