The Old Student’s Association, Command Day Secondary School (CDSSJ), Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Rukuba, Jos, (Abuja Chapter), over the weekend elected new Executives to pilot the affairs of the association.
The election was held on Sunday, February 25th, 2024, in Abuja.
The election which was observed by the National Vice President, Mrs. Emily Sawyer, (set 1989), National Assistant Secretary General, Mr. Iliya J. Galadima, (set 1997) and National Director of Social, Mr. Andrew Cusmos of (set 2001) was described as free, fair, and highly credible.
A total of 29 dedicated members were present and duly accredited to exercise their voting rights, ensuring that democratic principles were upheld throughout the process.
The Chairman position very competitive between Mr. Henry Nimyel Polycarp of (set 1993) and Prince Eni Olololo of (set 1991), as Mr. Polycarp emerged victorious with 20 votes against Prince Eni’s eight votes.
However, the post of the Vice Chairman, Secretary General, and Assistant Secretary General, were returned unopposed. In the Treasurer category, Ms.Nancy Nanyi Shaibu of set 1994 secured a decisive victory with 20 votes against her contender, Mrs. Salome Alamo, set 2001 who was absent during the election.
Meanwhile, the post of the Auditor was not contested while the house nominated Mohammad Isah of set 1993 as the Provost.
Following the conclusion of the voting process, the newly elected executives were announced as follows:
Chairman: Mr. Henry Nimyel Polycarp (Set 1993); Vice Chairman: Mrs. Helen Omata Edwin (Set 1994); Secretary General: Mr. Abu Moses (Set 1995); Assistant Secretary General: Emmanuella Jacob Kongrot (Set 2008).
Others are the Financial Secretary: Hon. Emem Edu Peter (Set 1993); Treasurer: Nanyi Nancy Shaibu (Set 1994); Public Relations Officer (PRO): Mr. Michael Hosea (Set 2002); Director of Socials (D.O.S): Engr. Ken Chukwu Ndubuisi (Set 1991) and Provost: Mohammad Isah (Set 1993).
In his remarks, the National President, Mr. Emmanuel Onyeme, congratulated the newly elected executives and commended the Abuja Chapter for conducting a transparent and peaceful election.
He expressed confidence in their ability to lead the chapter effectively and urged them to prioritize the interests of the members in their tenure.
Similarly, the National Electoral Committee Chairman, Mr. Michael Ahidjo lauded the chapter for their commitment to democratic ideals and emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among the newly elected executives.
He urged them to uphold the principles of fairness and inclusivity in their leadership roles.
