Shettima stated this when he led a delegation of government officials to pay a courtesy visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari in his hometown of Daura, Katsina.
The VP was received upon arrival by the state governor, Dr Dikko Radda, who said he felt duty-bound to commiserate with the people of the state who have been the target of heightened offensives from terrorists.
His visit comes a day after residents of communities in Kurfi Local Government Area protested incessant terrorist activities on their turf.
Protesters drawn from Birchi, Wurma and other nearby communities blocked the Dutsin Ma-Katsina highway from around 10 a.m. Friday, burning corn stalks and tyres.
The state governor, Radda, who addressed protesters and Wurma community leaders, vowed to continue fighting terrorists in the state.
Wurma, a community only 40 kilometres from the state capital, suffered three consecutive attacks on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights.
On Tuesday, terrorists torched a newly built primary healthcare centre, houses, vehicles and police outposts.
Speaking to journalists at Buhari’s residence, Shettima said, “We felt duty-bound to come and identify with him, and also to commiserate with the Governor and people of Katsina over the sad incident which led to the loss of lives in the past couple of days and reassure them of the federal government’s determination and to convey the best wishes of President Bola Tinubu to his excellency President Muhammadu Buhari and to further reassure them that the government will leave no stone unturned will expend whatever resources that are needed to safeguard the lives and properties of citizens.”
The delegation of government officials also prayed for sustained good health for the former leader, who thanked them for the visit.
Present were the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), Ibrahim Hadejia; Minister of Agriculture, Abubakar Kyari; Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu; former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha; and state government officials, among others.
