It is no longer news that the environment plays the greatest role in a child’s development, centred around the family, place of worship, school, and other institutions.
The child of today is the adult of tomorrow, and the formation of lifestyle over time cannot be rushed. Character formation in a child begins at least three months after birth when the child starts to move and decides where to crawl or whom to allow to carry them. The child senses danger and cries, just as they perceive humorous things and laugh to show safety.
However, everything that happens around the child during this time is a message and training for who to be or what reactions to exhibit in life situations.
On the one hand, it is the mother’s response to circumstances that the child observes keenly and creates an emotional environment. On the other hand, it is the interactions in different places the child is exposed to that shape their social connections or peers, dictating their environment and mannerisms.
Many times, we wonder how bad behaviour easily dominates our society without considering how comfortable an individual is with overstepping boundaries to satisfy desires or achieve aims.
Nevertheless, they never consider the rotation of the earth and how life always turns out to hunt its own. Entitlement does not form in a day; it comes gradually and is adapted as a normal routine, causing much havoc and irredeemable results.
The implication of this is often overlooked, only to come back to bite us as children grow and form their own behaviours.
Consequently, the effects of bad manners, toxicity, and self-centeredness are enormous, and the need to try our best to avert this destructive force cannot be overstated.
The psychological consequences of wrong notions among young learners about always having things work in their favour should be the major concern of their caregivers, parents, and the people around them, to foster a healthy society.
Instead of developing hatred and envy for incapability, why not appreciate a multi-talented brain? Perhaps, in the long run, the other party could also discover their own strengths.
Additionally, the connection and influence for a child to be favoured above their abilities due to family affluence or relations should call for serious attention.
These, among other factors, contribute to present lackadaisical attitudes, societal decay, drug dealing, and other inappropriate behaviours that plague our society.
Certainly, if everyone comes together to silence the aforementioned evil dominance that has become the norm, we will see fewer repercussions of these menaces among us as individuals, families, officeholders, and in the global community, ensuring a safer journey for the child’s life.
