A Nigerian lady who identified as @TheGermanGift has shared via her page on the microblogging platform X how her in-laws treated her during her first visit to their house.
Recounting the event she revealed that her mother-in-law stood over her head and made sure she finished the pounded yam she was served.
The lady who had looked forward to meeting her in-laws purchased multiple items for them, including a new phone for her mother-in-law.
While advising ladies to be focused and be themselves, she shared that her father-in-law had referred to her as Okonjo Iweala when he saw her.
Her tweet read;
“I hope this doesn’t sound classist. If it does, ignore the advice then, but in all of these, maybe try get rep. Maybe it’ll help. The first day I met my baby’s parents, my father-in-law said ‘Ah! Okonjo Iweala ti de’. My mother-in-law stood over my head and made sure I finished the pounded yam she made for me, because I eat like an ant. I cleared my plate with the extra bowl of protein they placed beside me. You wan dey test Okonjo Iweala ke? Also, on not buying big gifts on your first visit, I’m a gifter. An extra one. I bought my mom-in-law a Samsung phone on our first visit because her phone got stolen shortly before our first visit. Lmao. You better be yourself and focus on your life. Nitori oko fife le wa fe para yin.“
