Alamutu has therefore directed the area commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to protect their areas of jurisdiction against crime and criminality as the celebration of Easter peaks.
The CP said that locations such as Long Bridge, Bamboo, Four Square, Alapako, Onigari, Ogunmakin, Straightgate, worship centres which are all along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as well as financial institutions and other black spots across the state shall witness enhanced security measures to prevent nothing untoward
This was contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Omolola Odutola, on Saturday.
The statement partly read, “In order to ensure a peaceful celebration of Easter, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Alamutu Abiodun, has ordered round-the-clock security and protection of public spaces during and after the celebrations.
“An operation order has been encapsulated directing Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders, to safeguard their areas of jurisdiction against crime and criminality.
“Residents of Ogun State, as well as visitors, will observe the heavy presence of police officers who have been deployed to man entry and exit points as well as to effect aggressive raiding of flashpoints, such as garage parks, conducting of routine patrols, and barricading designated roads to conduct stop and search all for the security pleasure of residents.
“Residents and fun seekers, are enjoined to give massive cooperation whenever they come across security personnel in line of their duties.
“Intelligence-based policing will be enforced to critically combine collaborative efforts with other security agencies to complement the operational capabilities of the police.
“Hence, residents will notice inter-agency surveillance as directed by the Commissioner of Police, all in a bid to prevent sudden attacks or escalation of any kind of violence.
“Locations such as Long Bridge, Bamboo, Four Square, Alapako, Onigari, Ogunmakin, Straight Gate, worship centres, and financial institutions, will witness intensified security measures to prevent possible attacks, having carefully monitored the modus operandi of the daredevil who may want to capitalize upon the festive season to carry out nefarious activities.”
