Wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has restated her commitment to supporting children and therefore warned them against social vices.
Mrs Sanwo-Olu said this in Ikeja over the weekend while hosting the Year 2024 Lagos State Family Easter Fiesta put together as part of activities to commemorate the Easter season for all families, particularly children in the state.
She noted the programme was introduced by her office in 2021 in line with the essence of the season and had been sustained over the years with great improvement.
The governor’s wife said, “My special Easter message and admonition to the children is for you to obey your parents, shun all forms of vices, be committed to your education, and most importantly let the fear of God reign supreme in you.
“I also call for the collective prayers of everyone during this season for the peace and progress of our dear nation and state. I am certain that by these collective efforts, God will prevail over our nation.
“For us at the Office of the First Lady, we have not relented in complimenting the efforts of the state government in reaching out to all residents and the children.
“We have initiated various programmes such as the Boy Child Initiative, Schools Support programme, Advocacy against Sexual and Gender-based Violence, Youth Collaboration, among other initiatives aimed at supporting our younger generation towards realising their aspirations.”
Christians in Nigeria and across the globe mark Easter today, commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the salvation of mankind.
