The assembly’s nod was sequel to the letter sent to the legislature by the governor seeking approval for the appointment of the aides.
The letter was titled, ‘Request for approval for the appointment of Special Advisers.’
Names were not attached to the letter which was read on the floor of the assembly by the Clerk of the House, Adogu Kent, during Tuesday plenary presided over by the Speaker, Abraham Ingobere.
The letter read, “I write to seek the approval of the House of Assembly for the appointment of 24 Special Advisers to the Governor.
“The purpose of the appointment is for effective governance and fulfilment of the vision of the prosperity of the state.
“It is in accordance with the provision of Section 196 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended.”
The member representing Southern Ijaw Constituency 2, Edwin Bubou-Obolo, moved the motion for the assembly’s approval of the governor’s request, which was seconded by his Southern Ijaw Constituency 3 counterpart, Marlon Moses.
They unanimously stated that the approval was necessary to provide legislative support to the government.
