Who are the Euro 2024 Favourites?
Only one winner will emerge from the 24 teams participating in the Euro 2024. Our experts have picked five teams that are favourites to be crowned champions.
We will also provide the odds put out by top betting sites for these teams to win the title. The favourite teams include:
- Germany.
- Spain.
- Portugal.
- England.
- France.
Germany
The German National team is the host and one of the Euro 2024 favourites. The three-time champions hope to make this edition memorable by winning on home soil.
After their third-place finish in the 2016 edition, they couldn’t make it past the round of 16 in the following edition, losing to England. They haven’t been in their best form recently, so they are number 5 on our favourite teams to lift this title. However, the Julian Nagelsmann-led side has the players he needs to win a fourth European Championship.
🔹 Germany – 7.25 to win the Euro 2024 with Bet9ja, correct as of 22/03/24. 🔹
Spain
Spain is another favourite team capable of winning Euro 2024. Alongside Germany, they hold the joint top record for the most titles won in this competition, three.
After recently winning the 2023 Nations League with an incredible crop of players, La Roja will look to capitalise on their present form as they head to Germany.
They were close to winning a fourth title in the last edition, losing on penalties to Italy in the Semi-finals. This time, we expect them to reach the semi-finals again and even win the title they last won in 2012.
🔹 Spain – 9.0 to win the Euro 2024 with Betano, correct as of 22/03/24. 🔹
Portugal
Portugal boasts a star-studded squad and is an interesting side to watch. With the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandez, Joao Felix, Joao Cancelo, Bernardo Silva, and Rafael Leao, it shouldn’t be surprising that they are one of our Euro 2024 favourites.
The Portuguese National team won their first title in 2016 despite a poor start to the campaign. In the following edition, they lost to Belgium in the round of 16, with Cristiano Ronaldo finishing the competition as top scorer alongside Patrik Schick.
While the Al Nassr forward might be making his last competitive appearance for his country in Germany, it might be time to win another international title. Our guess is that he has the teammates to make it happen.
🔹 Portugal – 9.0 to win the Euro 2024 with Betking, correct as of 22/03/24.🔹
England
Despite being a big name in football, the Three Lions have struggled with winning titles. However, they’ve been consistent in recent times with their performances, finishing in third place at the 2019 Nations League and runners-up at Euro 2020, where they lost on penalties to Italy.
Gareth Southgate understands his team is due for an international title like every other football fan. With Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, and Phil Folden, to mention a few, you can’t rule out the possibility.
🔹 England – 4.50 to win the Euro 2024 with Betano, correct as of 22/03/2024. 🔹
France
France are the favourite team to win the Euro 2024. They are an interesting side and possess a gem in Kylian Mbappe, who is capable of changing the outcome of a game.
Their pedigree in the world of football cannot be pushed aside, as they proved in the World Cup, making back-to-back finals in 2018 and 2022.
While this is a different tournament, they aren’t new to it, winning twice in 1984 and 2000 and finishing as runner-up in 2016. This proves how formidable the Les Blues are in this competition as they look to win their third title.
🔹 France – 4.50 to win the Euro 2024 with Betano, correct as of 22/03/2024. 🔹
Who are the Favourites of the Euro 2024 Groups?
Six groups of 4 teams each will begin this competition. To aid your predictions, we will analyse each group and the favourite teams to advance to the next round.
Group A
Group A comprises Germany, Scotland, Hungary, and Switzerland. Our research revealed that Scotland has made three appearances in the European Championship, in 1992, 1996, and 2020, but hasn’t gotten past the group stage in any. Barring any upset, they don’t look like a team capable of displacing the host nation.
They might need to fight for a third-place finish with Hungary. Granit Xhaka and his Switzerland teammates will likely battle three-time Champions Germany for the top two spots in Group A.
Group B
Spain, Croatia, Italy, and Albania have been paired in Group B of Euro 2024. We rate the Spanish National team as the best in this group and likely to finish in first position. Apart from being three-time Champions, they’ve been on an incredible run in recent years. However, they will face stiff competition for the top spot with Italy and Croatia.
Based on their pedigree, the Blues could follow closely in the second position, but it wouldn’t be easy. In fact, Croatia topped a group with Spain, Turkey, and the Czech Republic in 2016 and finished second behind England in the group stage in 2020. So, they are a threat. However, if they miss the second position in Group B, they could follow the best third-placed teams into the knockout phase.
Group C
Our previous analysis shows England is one of the Euro 2024 favourites. Hence, they need to prove that they can lift the title by finishing at the top of Group C, beating Denmark, Serbia, and Slovenia.
We fancy Kasper Hjulmand to lead his Denmark team to a second-place finish behind the Three Lions. The Red and Whites have players like Christian Eriksen, Pierre Emile-Højbjerg, and Rasmus Højlund to get the job done. With their quality of players, it would be shocking to see them finish outside the top two.
Group D
Like England, France are favourites to win Euro 2024. They have been placed in Group D, and we expect Les Blues to emerge as leaders of this group. With Lethal Forward Kylian Mbappe, the team would most likely have a player in the top scorers list.
The Flying Dutchmen should follow closely in second position as they make their 11th appearance in the competition. In the last edition, they were placed in the same group as Austria, alongside Ukraine and North Macedonia. Hence, they should have no problem finishing ahead of Austria once again.
However, Ralf Rangnick and his Austrian side could become one of the best third-placed teams to advance to the next round.
Group E
Belgium will be making her third appearance in a row at Euro 2024. They finished second behind Italy in 2016 and were at the top of their group in the last edition.
Securing the top spot again shouldn’t be an issue while Slovakia, Romania and Play-off winner B fight for other positions in the group. Anything short of a top-table finish will be disappointing for Domenico Tedesco and his boys.
Group F
Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates have been placed in group F, facing Türkiye, Czechia and Play-off winner C. Starting on a high note is crucial as they seek their second European Championship.
With the crop of players at their disposal, they should finish Group F at the top. However, they need to be wary of the threats from their opponents.
